KUCHING, Aug 25: A total of 127 staff and athletes from Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUT), Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Kuching Water Board (KWB), Sibu Water Board (SWB) and Laku Management Sdn Bhd are representing Sarawak at the 2023 Malaysia Water Supply Games (SBAM) held in Kedah from Aug 23 to 28.
According to a press release today, the Sarawak contingent has received full support from Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi and his deputies, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Datuk Liwan Lagang.
SBAM is a sports tournament for all water operators in Malaysia, including companies related to water, such as Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) and the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
The tournament is held biennially and organised together with the Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC).
This year, Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) has been chosen to become the host for the tournament.
Among the events competed are football, netball, bowling, sepak takraw, badminton, dart, ping pong, golf, tug-of-war, carrom, volleyball and ‘sepak raga tuju’.
The SBAM 2023 opening ceremony was officiated by Kedah Menteri Besar Dato Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor on August 24.
KWB general manager Rodziah Mohamad was also present during the ceremony. — DayakDaily
