Sarawak sees one imported case of Covid-19 in Kuching

KUCHING, Oct 5: One imported Covid-19 case was recorded in Kuching today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today revealed the patient was a Sarawakian who had returned from Kuwait. The man travelled from Dubai International Airport in United Arab Emirates on Oct 1 and arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the same day.


The patient had undergone a Covid-19 swab test using the rapid test kit antigen at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and tested negative before continuing with his flight to Kuching.

Upon arrival on Oct 2, he was sent to a hotel to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

On the second day of quarantine on Oct 3, he took the Covid-19 swab test using rapid test polymerase chain reaction and his results returned positive on Oct 4.

With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 718.

Meanwhile, SDMC revealed one patient from Sarawak General Hospital had recovered and was discharged.

There were also two new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases reported, with one PUI case awaiting laboratory test results. — DayakDaily
