Sarawak sees no local transmission of Covid-19 for 21st day

KUCHING, Sept 19: Sarawak entered the 21st day without reporting a new case of local transmission of Covid-19.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today said there were no positive Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak.


The committee said the cumulative Covid-19 cases in Sarawak remained at 701 cases.

It added that the Covid-19 cluster which was still active was the Alam Cluster in Bintulu whilst all the patients from the cluster have recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.

SDMC said two patients were still being treated at the isolation ward in the hospital.

The committee added that there was a case in Sandakan, Sabah which was being treated at the Bintulu Hospital.

SDMC said there were 14 new cases of person-under-investigation (PUI) while one PUI case was awaiting laboratory results.

It added that there were also 10 returnees who registered into hotels for quarantine today as person-under-surveillance (PUS).

The committee said there were 574 PUS who were undergoing quarantine at 11 hotels throughout Sarawak.

SDMC said a total of 24,177 PUS have completed their quarantine as of September 19.

Apart from that, the committee said tattoo shops are allowed to resume businesses this coming Monday (September 21).

It said the reopening of the business is required to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) prepared by the Ministry for Local Government and Housing. —DayakDaily
