Sarawak sees improvement in Covid-19 as daily caseload drops to 1,712

KUCHING, Sept 22: There has been an improvement in Sarawak’s Covid-19 daily caseload today as the number of cases dropped to 1,712 as compared to yesterday’s 3,724.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said patients in Category 1 and 2 continue to take up 99.88 per cent of the total number of cases.


On the breakdown of clinical categories, there were 713 Category 1’s, 997 Category 2’s, zero Category 3’s, and one each of Categories 4 and 5.

In terms of districts, Kuching remained at the top of the list, reporting 480 new cases, followed by Bintulu (321), Miri (167), Bau (152), and Sibu (117).

Other districts that saw double-digit case numbers were Serian (62), Mukah (37), Subis (37), Saratok (36), Kapit (35), Sri Aman (27), Samarahan (24), Pusa (20), Tatau (19), Simunjan (19), Tebedu (19), Limbang (18), Sarikei (16), Kabong (15), Betong (13), Belaga (13), Lubok Antu (12), and Lawas (11).

The remaining districts with new infections included Matu (7), Marudi (5), Selangau (4), Dalat (4), Meradong (3), Kanowit (3), Sebauh (2), Telang Usan (2), Pakan (1), and Beluru (1).

Five districts namely Song, Daro, Julau, Bukit Mabong, and Tanjung Manis are free of any new Covid-19 cases today.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one new Covid-19 death backdated to Sept 20, involving an 81-year-old male from Sri Aman.
