KUCHING, Jan 4: In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and China, primary and secondary schools across Sarawak are invited to participate in a Poster and Logo Design Competition organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Sin Chew Daily.

The competition will feature two categories: a poster design for both primary and secondary schools, and a logo design exclusively for secondary schools.

For both poster and logo design categories, participants have the opportunity to win prizes of up to RM500 (first place), RM300 (second place), and RM100 (third place), along with RM50 consolation prizes. In the primary school poster design category, prizes include RM300 (first place), RM120 (second place), RM80 (third place), and RM50 consolation prizes.

The winning design for the logo category will become the symbol for the ‘Malaysia-China 50th Anniversary Celebration’ series of events organized by MBKS and Sin Chew Daily.

All winning entries will be exhibited at Friendship Park on May 31.

Speaking during a press conference, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the special occasion is held with the aim to enhance students’ understanding of the significant diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and China.

“Apart from that, it is also to foster cultural understanding, economic development and educational exchange between the two regions,” he said.

He added that apart from MBKS, other city councils namely Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) are also celebrating this anniversary.

Interested participants can submit their entries starting from Jan 8 until Feb 29 to MBKS and Sin Chew Daily’s offices.

The results will be announced on March 15. — DayakDaily
