KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3: Sarawak and Sabah have recorded high numbers in the redemption of Madani Book Vouchers nationwide.
According to a TVS news report today, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said this reflects the commitment of teachers, the State Education Departments (JPN), and District Education Offices (PPD) in both States.
“The redemption of book vouchers in rural areas, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, shows their commitment to this initiative,” she said during a press conference in Parliament today.
On May 30, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the voucher assistance initiative amounting to RM290 million during the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair.
Meanwhile, Fadhlina informed that as of Dec 1, a total of 3,279,601 vouchers had been redeemed with a total value of RM262.6 million.
“This programme also saw over 6.6 million copies of books sold, involving 1,050 sellers through the Bookcapital platform,” she said.
Fadhlina also expressed her appreciation to Pos Malaysia for ensuring that the delivery of books to the remote areas ran smoothly, despite facing logistical challenges. — DayakDaily
