KUCHING, May 23: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today declared two new clusters related to Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in Kuching with a total of 18 confirmed cases reported today.
The two clusters were named the Taman Sourabaya Indah Cluster and the Jalan Jambatan Gantung Cluster.
The first cluster stemmed from a family gathering at Taman Sourabaya Indah on May 13 involving five families comprising about 34 close family members.
Close contact screening of 34 individuals found nine of them positive, and 22 negative with three more still waiting for their final results.
The second Raya cluster was traced to a residential area at Lorong 1, Jalan Jambatan Gantung, where the index case visited several houses on May 13.
Close contact screening of 25 individuals in total also found nine confirmed cases, 15 negative cases while the results for one sample is yet to be known.
These Covid-19 clusters would be the first two clusters resulting from social activities on Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year. — DayakDaily
