Sarawak reports no new Covid-19 cases for 9th day running

KUCHING, Sept 8: No new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in Sarawak today.

However, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas warned that although the state had not recorded any positive cases for nine consecutive days, everyone in the community must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) guidelines and to continue using face masks.

“Face masks as well as physical distancing while in the public area is important,” he said in a statement.

Uggah also disclosed that the total number of positive cases remains at 699.

“No death cases were reported in Sarawak as well, making the total number of death cases in the state remains at 19 or 2.72 per cent,” he added.

He noted that Cluster Alam in Bintulu is the sole active cluster at eight cases.

Seven patients have been discharged and recovered, while one more is still being treated at Bintulu hospital.

With that, the cumulative number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 in Sarawak are 676 people or 96.71 per cent of total cases.

Four patients, Bintulu (2), Miri (1) and Kuching (1) are still receiving treatment at medical facilities.

He also revealed that there were 15 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases.–DayakDaily.
