KUCHING, May 2: Sarawak recorded 610 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (epidemiological) Week 17 (April 24 to 30), a decrease from Epid Week 16 (April 18 to 24), which recorded 937 cases.
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly report released today, Kuching remains the State’s most affected district during Epid Weeks 16 and 17, with 255 cases in Epid Week 16 and 186 cases in Epid Week 17.
Miri (152), Bintulu (136), and Sibu (103) are the three districts that saw triple-digit cases during Epid Week 16, while Samarahan (46), Serian (28), Limbang (18), Mukah (17), Sarikei, Sri Aman, and Asajaya (15 each), Bau (14), and Subis (12) are among the nine districts that saw double-digit cases.
The remaining districts with single-digit cases during Epid Week 16 are Betong and Pusa (9 each), Simunjan and Lubok Antu (8 each), Kanowit and Dalat (7 each), Matu (6), Lundu, Daro, and Julau (5 each), Kapit, Saratok, Selangau, Lawas, and Pakan (4 each), Kabong, Tebedu, Tatau, Beluru, and Sebauh (3 each), Marudi, Meradong, and Telang Usan (2 each), and Belaga (1).
In Epid Week 17, Miri (74), Bintulu (94), Sibu (77), Samarahan (38), Serian (18), Limbang (15), and Mukah (10) are among the seven districts that saw double-digit cases.
The remaining districts with single-digit cases during Epid Week 17 are Sri Aman (9), Simunjan (8), Bau and Betong (7 each), Sarikei (6), Subis and Julau (6 each), Asajaya and Matu (5 each), Lubok Antu, Kapit, Saratok and Meradong (4 each), Lundu, Lawas, Kabong, and Tebedu (3 each), Kanowit, Dalat, Pakan, and Tatau (2 each), and Pusa, Selangau, and Sebauh (1 each).
Meanwhile, based on the Covid-19 death reports, in Epid Week 16, Kuching recorded three deaths, Serian and Miri each recorded one, and in Epid Week 17, only Kuching recorded one death.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases stood at 304,708 in Epid Week 16 and 305,318 in Epid Week 17. — DayakDaily
