Sarawak reports 19th Covid-19 fatality, one new patient from Sentosa cluster

KUCHING, July 26: Sarawak’s 19th fatality due to Covid-19 was confirmed today by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

One positive Covid-19 case from the Sentosa cluster was also found.


SDMC revealed that the new death today involved a woman, 63, from Samariang Baru, who had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.

She had experienced high fever and coughing on July 3 before she was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.

Her Covid-19 swab test returned positive and her condition was deteriorating. Her death was confirmed at 12.04am today.

Meanwhile, the new Covid-19 patient—Case 650—involved a local male who was a close contact of one of the Covid-19 cases from the Sentosa cluster.

As of today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak is 650 with a total of 19 fatalities.

SDMC also revealed there are a total of 68 individuals still receiving treatment in hospital isolation wards with two new recoveries.

There are a total of six new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases, and five cases still awaiting laboratory test results.

There are 39 Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) registered into various hotels across Sarawak for quarantine.

Thus, there are presently a total of 605 individuals under quarantine in 11 hotels throughout Sarawak while 19,118 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine. — DayakDaily
