Sarawak reports 16 more Covid-19 fatalities including 2 BID cases, death toll now at 1,417

KUCHING, Nov 5: Sarawak has confirmed 16 Covid-19 deaths including two brought-in-dead (BID) cases between Oct 13 and Nov 4.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, stated that the two BID cases were reported in Betong on Oct 22 and Sri Aman on Oct 31.

For the Betong case, the victim was an 86-year-old man with multiple morbidities of hypertension, diabetes and heart disease, while the Sri Aman case involved an 89-year-old man with hypertension.


On Oct 13, two fatalities were reported in Betong Hospital involving two men from Sri Aman aged 53 and 84.

On Nov 2, Sibu Hospital recorded four deaths with the victims comprising two elderly men and two elderly women aged between 68 and 93.

On Nov 3, Miri Hospital reported four deaths with the victims comprising three men and one woman aged between 50 and 89.

On Nov 4, four deaths were confirmed with two in Miri Hospital involving a 66-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man.

The remaining two deaths were reported in Limbang Hospital involving an 89-year-old man and in Sarikei Hospital involving a 70-year-old woman from Betong.

Most of the victims had multiple morbidities especially hypertension and diabetes, apart from more severe diseases like obstructive chronic lung disease, heart disease and kidney disease.

The death toll in Sarawak now stands at 1,417 as of Nov 5. — DayakDaily
