Sarawak registers 295 new Covid-19 cases, 7 categorised as serious

KUCHING, April 13: Among the 295 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Sarawak today, seven of them were categorised as serious.

According to a Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) update, there were two cases each in Category 3 (lung infection) and 4 (lung infection requiring oxygen support), and three in Category 5 (lung infection requiring ventilator support).


In the milder categories, there were 96 patients without symptoms (Category 1) and 192 with mild symptoms (Category 2).

District-wise, Kuching remained the biggest contributor of new cases with 121, followed by Bintulu (28), Miri (28), Sibu (21), Matu (16), and Samarahan (10).

Other districts with new infections were Serian (8), Simunjan (7), Limbang and Kapit (6 each), Bau and Lubok Antu (5 each), Pusa and Mukah (4 each), Saratok and Belaga (3 each), Subis, Dalat, Sarikei, Betong, Marudi, Kanowit and Tatau (2 each), and Sri Aman, Lundu, Asajaya, Lawas, Julau, and Daro (1 each).

With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 303,175.

Meanwhile, no new deaths or Covid-19 clusters were reported today.
