Sarawak records 100 recoveries; 1,693 Covid-19 patients in hospitals

The current status of hospitals in Sarawak catering for Covid-19 patients as of Jan 28, 2020

KUCHING, Jan 28: Sarawak reported 100 new recoveries today, on the contrary, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised in hospitals and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) throughout Sarawak has increased to 1,693.

On the recoveries, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, said that 62 patients have been discharged from Sibu Hospital, 16 from Miri Hospital, six from Bintulu Hospital and one from Limbang Hospital.

This thus increased the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak to 2,201 or 55.79 per cent of total positive cases so far.


As for hospitalised active cases, Sibu Hospital tops the list with 1,068 patients being isolated and receiving treatment in the hospital while the low-risk patients at PKRC.

Hospital Miri has 301 cases, Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has 159 cases, Bintulu Hospital has 105 cases, Kapit Hospital has 41 cases, Sarikei Hospital has 14 cases while Limbang Hospital registered four cases and PKRC Sipitang in Sabah one case.

Three patients each in SGH and Sibu Hospital and two patients in Miri Hospital were in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while one patient in SGH, two in Sibu Hospital and two in Miri Hospital required the support of medical equipment.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one more Covid-19 fatality in Sibu and 171 new infections with Sibu recording the highest number of cases at 77 followed by Miri (43), Dalat (25), Bintulu (12), Kuching (10), Betong (2) and one each in Kapit and Lundu.

As such, the state tally of positive cases has now been pushed up to 3,945. — DayakDaily
