KUCHING, May 3: Sarawak currently holds the unenviable rank as the second highest state in the country in the number of job scam victims.
According to a news report by TVS, Mnistry of Foreign Affairs Sarawak regional office director Fenny Nuli revealed that Sarawak has recorded a total of 202 victims of these job scam syndicates.
“We have fallen to second place but this is not something to be proud of. It cannot be considered a drop in the number, but there may be other states experiencing an increase,” she said in a special interview programme, Dialog TVS which was broadcast on Thursday (May 2).
Presently, Johor tops the list with 243 victims, followed by Sarawak with 202, and Kuala Lumpur with 144. Selangor and Perak reported 127 and 121 victims respectively.
During a courtesy visit to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar last March, Fenny disclosed that Sarawak led the statistics chart for employment fraud victims in Malaysia.
She emphasised that the figure was very concerning, and as a result, the Ministry was diligently working to find effective methods to combat the issue of job scam syndicates targeting the people of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
