KUCHING, Sept 5: New Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak pro-chancellor Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz has paid a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the UiTM Sarawak delegation was led by its rector Prof Dato Dr Jamil Hamali.
“Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz is the first UiTM alumni to be appointed as UiTM pro chancellor to assist in taking over some of our chancellor’s responsibilities, for example, presenting degrees during the UiTM Convocation Ceremony involving 23,000 graduates,” Dr Jamil said after the courtesy call.
The courtesy call also aimed to invite Abang Johari to attend UiTM Sarawak’s alumni dinner in conjunction with the university’s upcoming 50th anniversary on Oct 15.
“We started in 1973 and the Sarawak branch was the first to be established in the UiTM system.
“We want to celebrate 50 years of UiTM Sarawak with various activities besides the dinner later,” he added.
At the same time, Abang Johari also received a courtesy call from UEM Edgenta (UEMED) — a Malaysian company which provides consultancy primarily to healthcare, infrastructure, and real estate.
