KUCHING, Nov 29: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is optimistic that Sarawak will exceed the 2023 State Revenue estimated projection figures of RM12.7 billion next year.

The Sarawak Premier said that in 2023, Sarawak broke the revenue record set in 2022.

“Hopefully, in 2024, we can again break the record of 2023. This is our hope, and Sarawak is confident it could be achieved, ” he said in his speech at the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Backbenchers Night event at Sheraton Kuching Hotel here last night.

Abang Johari also applauded Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim for acknowledging and thanking GPS at the opening of the Global Muslim Business Forum on Nov 28 here.

“The prime minister has admitted that, with GPS support, he could form a political and stable Madani government in the last year.

Abang Johari hoped under Anwar, the Madani government could focus on developing Malaysia.

“For Sarawak, we will maintain our cooperation with the federal government and continue to develop our State.

Abang Johari reminded those present that Sarawak has a lot more to do until 2030 and beyond when more challenges will emerge.

“But what is important for us is to make sure Sarawak is the hub for the region, and the first step is for us to reinforce our strength in energy sectors and the rest will be consequential,” he said.

Also present at the event were Abang Johari’s wife, Datin Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, State Legislative Assembly(DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, GPS DUN Chief Whip Dato Ibrahim Baki, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and event organising chairman Christopher Gira Sambang. — DayakDaily
