KUCHING, March 29: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended an iftar ceremony with civil servants as well as village chiefs and community leaders (KMKK) at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here this evening.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he was accompanied by his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
After iftar, he presented Hari Raya Aidilfitri aid from Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak Women’s Wing to 13 teachers and 52 students.
The recipients are from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pajar Sejingkat, SK Pasir Pandak, SK Pendidikan Khas (B) Kuching, SK Pulo, SK Rakyat Tupong, SK Rampangi, SK Tan Sri Datuk Dr Sulaiman Daud, SK Santubong, SK Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR), SK Salak, SK Semerah Padi, SK Siol Kanan and SK Semariang.
Abang Johari also performed Maghrib, Isyak and tarawih prayers with the guests at DUN Complex’s Surau led by Imam Besar Sarawak, Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
Amongst those present were Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; and Sarawak Federal Secretary Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hasan.
