KUCHING, May 30: The Sarawak Powerlifting Association (SPA) has achieved a significant milestone by winning the national state champion title at the Malaysian National Powerlifting Championships, held in Selangor.

In a statement today, SPA president Nasrul Faiz expressed his pride in the achievements of all Sarawak athletes across various divisions.

“The journey to this victory has been marked by dedication, hard work, and a strategic approach to talent development,” said Nasrul.

“As not only the president but also a coach, referee, athlete, and volunteer, I am proud of every Sarawak athlete.”

Reflecting on the two-year journey leading to this historic win, SPA Deputy President Abdul Aziz Abdul Waheed commended the athletes’ belief in their ability to triumph in 2024. He noted that the success was driven by a concerted effort to nurture young talent, particularly in the Sub Juniors and Juniors divisions.

SPA Vice President Daryl Albright highlighted the rise of young athletes as a positive sign of growth in the sport.

He stated that Sarawak’s victory is a testament to the collective effort of athletes, coaches, and supporters who have dedicated themselves to advancing powerlifting in the region.

“As Sarawak celebrates this historic achievement, the focus now shifts to sustaining this momentum and continuing to elevate the standards of powerlifting in the state,” added Albright. — DayakDaily
