Mancha emphasised that the quantity of drugs seized could potentially be used by 165,000 addicts.

He disclosed that the suspect(s) allegedly sourced the drugs from a syndicate leader in Kuching, using a residential house as a storage facility before distributing them to buyers upon the leader’s instructions.

“The suspect reportedly received a daily wage of RM100 for his involvement,” he added.

Both suspects have been remanded for six days, from Aug 29 to Sept 4, under the Criminal Procedure Code. They are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane, if convicted.

Mancha reiterated the police’s commitment to an all-out war against drugs, labelling them as the nation’s number one enemy.

He urged the community to continue providing information on drug-related activities to the police via the JSJN hotline at 012-2087222. — DayakDaily
