KUCHING, Sept 2: Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Women’s wing has called on the relevant ministry to ensure that the upgrading projects involving dilapidated schools in Sarawak are implemented with full responsibility.
PKR Women’s wings in a statement today said this is due to its implications involving social, economic and educational gaps which will leave Sarawakian children in rural areas far behind if not dealt with seriously.
“Teachers and children of Sarawak in the rural areas have the right to have a conducive and safe school environment because it affects the development of students spiritually and physically, even though in reality, Sarawak still lacks basic facilities such as water, road facilities and broadband,” it said.
Sarawak PKR Women’s wing emphasised that the responsible ministry should also ensure that the children in rural Sarawak have the same access to safe schools, learning and education of the same standard as children in the city.
Meanwhile, Sarawak PKR Women’s wing welcomed the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision which ruled that Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was guilty of involvement in the hybrid solar project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak worth RM1.25 billion. — DayakDaily
