SIBU, Sept 2: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce (TAZA) village security and development committee (JKKK), and TAZA Community Association are jointly organising a Mooncake Festival celebration at 6.30pm on Sept 9.

The chairman of the organising committee, Councillor Thomas Tiong, said the festival would be held at the Farley Supermarket stage at Jalan Salim.

“This festival is under the SMC’s corporate social responsibility project as a result of an initiative by councillors in the area zone.

“Apart from celebrating the festival itself, this programme is also to strengthen the relationship between the council and the public,” he said at a press conference.

Tiong said the guest of honour at the programme would be SMC chairman Clarence Ting.

According to him, there will be various stage performances, entertainment, and games to enliven the programme.

“In addition to entertainment items, we will also give a talk on e-Billing and keeping rabbits as pets by two of our staff,” he said.

The first 500 participants will be given door gifts, including halal mooncakes and free lanterns.

Also present at the press conference were SMC assistant secretary Mac Crey Anthony, JKKK TAZA chairman Pet Yen Leh, and TAZA Community Association chairman Peter Ting. — DayakDaily
