KUCHING, April 3: Sarawak will be on the lookout for the good news from the National Security Council (MKN) to allow those with full doses of Covid-19 vaccination to travel freely between states or abroad.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the council is expected to have a meeting over this issue as per announced by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday (April 2).

With that, Uggah urged Sarawakians not to reject the vaccination under the influences of some negative postings and fake news on social media platforms, denying the effectiveness of any Covid-19 vaccines.

He also reminded all private sectors in fields of service, hotel, construction, manufacturing and plantation to submit the employers’ name lists by April 12 which is in a few days’ time.

When visiting the Betong vaccination centre at Dewan Panglima Rentap here today, he said some 2,422 frontliners from the district have received their first doses of vaccines while the vaccination of the full force is targetted to be completed by end of this month.

He added that the statewide vaccination programme is in full swing in terms of injecting the doctors and health workers, other than the fact that vaccine supplies are limited.

“We are only waiting for the vaccine supplies. To date, some 1.23 million qualified and consenting Sarawakians have registered through the MySejahtera app and manually,” he said in a statement today.

On the same day, Uggah also visited the RM11 million Spaoh Sports Complex to check on the construction progress which is anticipated to be ready in June this year.

Together at the site visit were also political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu and Betong district officer Sofhi Jebal. — DayakDaily
