“We are humbled by the frontlines’ immense sacrifices, dedication and commitment to contain this pandemic. We remember each and every one of you who are out there every single day, risking your lives for us. Hopefully this small gesture will encourage the frontliners to continue to serve the people despite the many challenges and difficulties they face,” he said.

At the handing over ceremony held at Miri Hospital on Friday, Kiu  handed over the Merris cooking oil to Miri Hospital deputy director Dr Francis Heng Eng Khai.

Merris cooking oil is produced locally in SOPB’s refinery with freshly harvested Sarawak grown palm oil.

SOPB is scheduled to hand over another similar donation to Bintulu General Hospital by next week.

In addition, SOPB has carried out several welfare aids projects through its special relief fund since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) last year by distributing essential food items to affected families within the vicinity of its operation especially Penan communities in Murum. — DayakDaily
