KUCHING, Dec 16: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) filed a police report yesterday (Dec 15) regarding false allegations related to a contract bidding for the Kuching Urban Transportation Project (KUTS).
These accusations originated from an online article published on a website and subsequently circulated on various social media platforms, targeting both the company and its top management.
In a press statement today, Sarawak Metro refuted the claims in the article and categorised them as baseless, defamatory, and malicious.
The company asserted that these allegations were intended to damage its reputation and that of its top management.
“Sarawak Metro strongly denies the unfounded allegations presented in the article and is prepared to pursue legal action against those responsible for making, sharing, and spreading these allegations,” the statement declared.
Sarawak Metro emphasised its commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate governance and transparency throughout the organisation’s operations.
The article, written in Malay and published on Dec 13, alleged corruption in the RM569 million construction project for infrastructure works for the autonomous rapid transit (ART) network project, which was recently secured through a collaboration between a developer in Sarawak and a foreign company. — DayakDaily
