Sarawak Metro awards contract for mobile hydrogen refuelling station

KUCHING, Aug 15: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd has awarded the contract to supply a mobile hydrogen refuelling station to a joint venture company (JVC).

According to a statement, the contract, which was awarded to the JVC of CRRC MRT Holdings Group Co Ltd and Urban Empire Builders Sdn Bhd, involves the design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a mobile hydrogen refuelling station for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.

A total of seven submissions were received by Sarawak Metro at the tender closing for this contract package on November 1, 2024.

The letter of acceptance for the RM9.74 million contract was signed today at Sarawak Metro’s corporate office.

Representing Sarawak Metro at the signing ceremony was its chief executive officer, Mazli Mustaffa, while the joint venture company was represented by CRRC MRT Holdings Group general manager, Zhao JunKui and Urban Empire Builders director, Mike Chin Yuan Tai.

In his opening remarks during the signing ceremony, Mazli highlighted the importance of having the mobile hydrogen refuelling station ready in time for the start of the KUTS’ operations in the fourth quarter of next year.

“Alongside the hydrogen production plant and refuelling station at our depot in Rembus, Kota Samarahan, we fully expect our contractor to have the mobile hydrogen refuelling station ready, to enhance the flexibility of refuelling during the operation of both our Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles and feeder buses,” he said. — DayakDaily
