“Sarawak Merdeka Dalam Malaysia” rally to cultivate patriotism among youths

KUCHING, Sept 9: Plans are currently underway to hold a rally themed “Sarawak Merdeka Dalam Malaysia” in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 11, 2021.

According to Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang, the rally, which he will jointly organise with Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, Kota Samarahan Information Department, P197 Kota Samarahan Service Centre, Saberkas Samarahan branch, and Sarawak Scout Council Samarahan, is aimed at cultivating the spirit of patriotism among the youth in the state.

“Apart from that, it is show an appreciation to the previous leaders who have brought Sarawak to join the Malaysia Federation, including cultivating the spirit of patriotism among the young generation, as well as celebrating Aug 31 and Sept 16 as a responsible Sarawakian,” he said in a press conference held via Zoom, today.


Idris explained the rally will only involve participants who have completed their second Covid-19 vaccination doses, and have been cleared through swab tests.

He said the rally would not involved any gathering or close contact among the participants.

“There will also be food aid distribution and cash distribution to the needy, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kota Samarahan and Muara Tuang area, who are affected by Covid-19.

“It will be conducted via a drive-through method only,” he added.

Idris also disclosed that the programme is currently at the planning stage and will be finalised later.

“As such, we have requested for assistance from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), Ministry of Health (MOH), and other relevant bodies to come out with the necessary standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the event is a success,” he said.

Currently, more than 100 vehicles from various department and association are expected to participate in the rally. — DayakDaily
