KUCHING, July 5: A delegation of 15 media personnel from the Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA) embarked on a four-day visit to Pontianak, Indonesia today.
Led by FSJA president Andy Jong Wan Joon and second vice president Jacqueline R. David, the group consisted of representatives from local media agencies, including Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Bernama, RTM, TVS, TV3, Sin Chew Daily, Borneo Post, Suara Sarawak, DayakDaily, and Utusan Malaysia.
The group departed from Kuching Central Bus Terminal at 1pm and travelled by bus through the Tebedu-Entikong border to reach the city of Pontianak.
Accompanying the group on the trip was Alexandri Legawa, a staff member of the Protocol and Consular Section from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.
During their visit, the group is scheduled to make a courtesy call on the Governor of West Kalimantan, Bapak Sutarmidji M. Hum.
They will also pay a courtesy call on the Mayor of Pontianak, Bapak Ir H Edi Rusdi Kamtono MM MT, followed by a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between FSJA and Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Kalimantan Barat.
Additionally, they will visit the Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak, where the Malaysian Consul, Azizul Zekri Abd Rahim, will host a high-tea event with the media.
The trip received support from the Sarawak government under the leadership of Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching. — DayakDaily
