MIRI, July 16: The Sarawak government is currently looking into extending bus services from Kuching to Singkawang, Indonesia after the successful route to Pontianak.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Minister of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said Kuching-Pontianak bus services are already in operation, for which he had expressed gratitude to Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kuching, Raden Sigit Witjaksono.
“Raden is willing to work with us in Sarawak and I always contact him regarding transportation services.
“For example, the bus service to Pontianak has already started and we have proposed to continue the service to Singkawang,” he said during the Miri Badminton Association (MBA) dinner here last night (July 15).
He also said there had been a discussion about reopening the Kuching-Pontianak flight route pending on the final decision from Indonesia’s Ministry of Transport.
At the same time, Lee who is Senadin assemblyman also mentioned that Raden has proposed a friendly badminton match between MBA and Indonesia in Miri. – DayakDaily
