Sarawak logs one Covid-19 death as Kuching contributes 540 new infections out of 1,427 total

KUCHING, March 12: A 69-year-old woman from Mukah has died due to Covid-19 in Sarawak today, pushing the State’s death toll to 1,642.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the woman passed away on March 10.


She had a medical record of high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and a history of heart attack.

Meanwhile, Sarawak registered 1,427 new Covid-19 cases today, with 1,425 cases in the mild categories and two more in serious categories.

There were 513 cases in Category 1 (no symptoms), 912 Category 2 (mild symptoms), one Category 4 (lung infection and need oxygen supply) and one Category 5 (lung infection and need ventilator).

On breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported the highest number with 540 cases, followed by Miri (144), Sibu (126), Bintulu (116) and Serian (109).

Those with double-digit numbers were Samarahan (91), Sarikei (42), Bau (37), Sri Aman (35), Mukah (16), Betong (15), Limbang (14), Kapit (12), Marudi (11), Subis (11) and Kabong (10).

Other districts with new infections were Meradong (9), Saratok (9), Dalat (9), Pakan (8), Simunjan (7), Lundu (7), Kanowit (7), Julau (6), Daro (6), Tatau (4), Matu (4), Tebedu (4), Asajaya (3), Pusa (3), Lubok Antu (3), Telang Usan (3), Beluru (3), Lawas (2) and Sebauh (1).

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 277,277. — DayakDaily
