Sarawak logs 9 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Jan 17: Sibu, Kuching, Miri, and Bintulu are the only districts that reported new local infection cases today, as Sarawak recorded a total of 9 Covid-19 cases.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, four cases were reported in Sibu, followed by three cases in Kuching, while Miri and Bintulu reported one case each.

This brings the total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the State to 252,609.


In terms of clinical category, one case was in Category 5 with a lung infection and required breathing assistance, four were in Category 2 with mild symptoms, and another four cases in Category 1 (asymptomatic).

As of today, no new Covid-19 clusters were reported in the State.

Meanwhile, the committee said a total of five compounds were issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to two individuals and three corporate bodies in Kuching for various standard operating procedures (SOPs) offences.

Apart from that, fourteen individuals in Kuching were also compounded by Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for failure to scan the QR code on their MySejahtera application and failure to register in the logbook upon admission entering a premises. ā€• DayakDaily
