Sarawak logs 16 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Jan 18: Sarawak recorded 16 new Covid-19 cases in eight districts with Sibu topping the list with six cases.

With no Covid-19 fatalities reported, this thus pushes the State’s overall Covid-19 tally so far to 252,625 cases while the overall death toll is maintained at 1,620.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) updates on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, Kuching reported three cases and Lawas had two cases.


Miri, Sri Aman, Samarahan, Bau and Tanjung Manis had one case each.

Of the new cases reported, there were 10 under Category 1 with no symptoms and six under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the police issued 12 compounds in Kuching in the most recent 24-hour period for various violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Eight compounds were issued for failure to scan QR Code on MySejahtera or not recording attendance prior to entering a premises, three were for not wearing face masks and one was for not adhering to physical distancing measures. — DayakDaily
