Sarawak logs 1,503 new Covid-19 cases, 13 patients require ventilator support

KUCHING, Oct 6: Sarawak recorded 1,503 new Covid-19 cases today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily statement said Category 1 (asymptomatic) and Category 2 (mild symptoms) patients made up 1,484 cases or 98.74 per cent of overall cases.

Nineteen patients or 1.26 per cent are in Categories 3, 4 and 5.


In Category 3, there were four patients with pneumonia, followed by two patients under Category 4 who required oxygen and 13 patients under Category 5 who need ventilator support.

Kuching remains at the top in terms of districts with the most Covid-19 cases, recording 427 new cases, followed by Miri (203), Bau (159) and Sibu (154).

Districts that recorded double-digit case increases were Samarahan (70), Bintulu (68), Limbang (53), Serian (36), Kapit (30), Sarikei (29), Betong (26), Sri Aman (25), Daro (24), Belaga (21), Mukah (18), Lawas (16), Asajaya (16), Saratok (14), Pakan (13), Simunjan (12) Kanowit (12), Marudi (12), Meradong (11) and Subis (10).

Areas which saw single-digit gains were Song (9), Lundu (4), Lubok Antu (4), Julau (4) Pusa (4), Kabong (3), Telang Usan (3), Selangau (2), Tebedu (2), Bukit Mabong (2), Sebauh (2), Dalat 2), Tatau (1), Beluru (1), and Matu (1).

Tanjung Manis was the sole district which did not record any new cases in the most recent 24-hour period. — DayakDaily
