KUCHING, May 19: The First Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting has commenced today with the opening ceremony officiated by Sarawak Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
Wan Junaidi and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi arrived to attend the ceremony located at the parade ground of DUS Complex around 9.20am.
The ceremony began with the Malaysian national anthem “Negaraku” being sang followed by the dignitaries receiving the Royal Salute from the Guard-of-Honour.
Wan Junaidi then inspected the Guard-of-Honour which consisted of 105 police personnel.
The ceremony continued with the doa recital and closing with the Malaysian national anthem “Negaraku” and the Sarawak anthem “Ibu Pertiwiku” before Wan Junaidi headed to the DUS Chambers to deliver his opening address for the DUS sitting.
Amongst those present were Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, DUS Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar and his wife Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar.
This DUS sitting will see six Bills being tabled, namely Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill, 2025; Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill, 2025; Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Local Authorities (Amendment) Bill, 2025; and Infrastructure Development Trust Fund (Dissolution) Bill, 2025. — DayakDaily
