KUCHING, March 24: Sarawak’s bold investment in education and infrastructure is laying a strong foundation for long-term growth, steadily shaping the State’s economic strength through a development approach rooted in consistency, inclusivity, and forward planning.
Kuching Padawan Foochow Association and Simpang Tiga Community Association president Kapitan Dato Lau Sie Lok noted that Sarawak government has in recent years intensified efforts to modernise education while narrowing accessibility gaps between urban and rural communities.
He emphasised that digital transformation remains a key priority, alongside ongoing initiatives to upgrade school facilities, expand internet coverage, and introduce e-learning tools.
These efforts, he said, are crucial in ensuring students in rural and remote areas are not left behind.
“Education is not just about the present but also about building a better future society. Continuous investment and improvement are essential to nurture a capable and competitive new generation that will sustain Sarawak’s talent development,” he said in a statement today.

Lau stressed that these initiatives reflect a broader strategy to build a more inclusive and resilient education ecosystem.
As Sarawak advances within an increasingly technology-driven and knowledge-based global landscape, equal access to quality education will remain a defining factor in shaping its long-term success.
Beyond education, he highlighted that infrastructure development continues to be a central pillar of the State’s progress.
“Ongoing projects to improve rural roads, public amenities, and telecommunications are helping bridge the urban-rural divide while raising overall living standards,” he said.
He added that the gradual recovery of the tourism sector, coupled with improvements in supporting facilities and services, has strengthened Sarawak’s regional image and competitiveness, signalling growing investor confidence in the State’s economic prospects.
According to Lau, Sarawak’s development trajectory is not driven by short-term gains but by sustained, multi-sectoral investment that steadily builds the state’s economic resilience.
“A region’s true strength comes not just from momentary breakthroughs, but from long-term perseverance and continuous improvement,” he said.
He emphasised that Sarawak is at a critical phase, where ongoing infrastructure enhancements and strengthened institutional capacity will serve as key drivers of future growth.
“What may seem like ordinary changes today is the beginning of extraordinary achievements in the future,” he said.
Lau also called on all segments of society to remain united and work closely with the government in advancing Sarawak’s development agenda, stressing that collective effort and shared responsibility will be vital in propelling the State towards greater prosperity and sustainable progress .— DayakDaily
