SARIKEI, Nov 26: The Land and Survey Department will not recognise any transactions involving the sale or purchase of land lots allocated under the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) or the Resettlement Scheme (SPS).

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh revealed that the Sarawak government has allocated RM150,000 for each SPS and SPK lot since 2018.

This allocation covers the development of paved roads, concrete drainage systems, lot embankments, and water and electricity supplies.

“The Sarawak government has invested significant resources to ensure the success of these schemes, which have been planned and implemented across the region,” he said during the Temporary Occupation License (TOL) handing-over ceremony for the Bukit Kinyau SPK held at the Sarikei Division Sarawak Government Administrative Centre on Sunday (Nov 24).

He emphasised the government’s strong commitment to enhancing the well-being of the people by providing orderly and comfortable residential lots equipped with essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage, and utility services.

Len Talif, who is also the Kuala Rajang assemblyman, noted that the government has kept land premium rates affordable, capped at RM2,500 per lot, with payments allowed in annual installments over a period of 10 years.

“This initiative underscores the Sarawak government’s dedication to improving the quality of life, particularly for low-income groups, by offering better housing options,” he said.

He expressed hope that these developments would benefit all citizens, especially those in rural areas.

At the ceremony, 53 recipients from Kampung Bukit Kinyau received their TOLs, with the remaining 60 lots to be distributed in the near future. — DayakDaily
