KUCHING, Dec 10: The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has been urged to improve its ability to efficiently and effectively implement Federal projects worth under RM50 million so that the limit can be raised to RM100 million or more.

According to a TVS report today, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this is why the department needs to complete these projects according to schedule so that the Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) can advocate for Sarawak to implement and manage projects exceeding RM50 million in value.

“With that, we can manage projects better and ensure it won’t take too long to be completed,” he said during the Sarawak JKR Gala Dinner 2024 last night (Dec 9).

Meanwhile, he said that up to October this year, 146 infrastructure projects worth RM2.26 billion have been implemented.

He also mentioned several other projects under Sarawak JKR, such as the Pan Borneo Highway, the Pan Borneo Redline, the Trans Borneo Highway, the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR), federal rural roads, and abandoned logging roads. — DayakDaily
