Sarawak issued adverse weather warning: Heavy rain, strong winds until 9pm (Mar 7)

KUCHING, March 7: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, and Miri have been issued thunderstorm warnings effective until 9pm tonight.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), those in the affected districts should brace for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds.

Within these districts, Tanjung Manis and Daro in Mukah; Song, Kapit, and Belaga in Kapit; Tatau in Bintulu; and Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi in Miri will also be affected.

“Warnings are issued when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are imminent or expected to occur for more than one hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issue,” said the department in a Facebook post. — DayakDaily
