Sarawak, Indonesia Chinese business associations ink MoU to establish ties in enhancing trade, investment

KUCHING, Oct 19: The Indonesia Chinese Entrepreneur Association (ICEA) and Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a basis of cooperation and collaboration to enhance trade and investment between Indonesia and Sarawak.

The MoU signing was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday (Oct 18) during ACCCIS’ courtesy visit of 46 delegates led by its president Dato Tan Jit Kee to ICEA, an arrangement made by the General Consulate of The Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.

The documents were signed by ACCCIS’ Tan and ICEA president Abdul Alek Soelystio while witnessed by the Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia in Kuching His Excellency Raden Sigit Witjaksono and Miri City Council (MCC) mayor Adam Yii.

According to a statement by ACCCIS today, the new friendship lays the groundwork for an economic cooperation through commerce, trade and investment between respective business communities in Sarawak and Indonesia.

“ACCCIS hopes through the MoU signed on Oct 18, both parties are able to deepen business relations, develop stronger economic cooperation and promote bilateral trade, especially in food processing, light industries and tourism, which consists of huge cooperation potential among others,” it also read.

Among other ACCCIS delegates also present were vice-presidents Kuek Eng Mong and Ling Dien Yong, Digital and Economy committee chairman Rodger Chan, Legal Affairs committee chairman Vincent Lu, and International Trade and Industry committee chairman Sim Soon Tian. — Dayakdaily
