Lee receives courtesy visit from Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak, discuss bus services launch from Singkawang-Kch

KUCHING, Oct 19: Minister for Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin received a courtesy visit from the Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak, Indonesia, Azizul Zekri Abdul Rahim, at Lee’s office on Oct 18.

According to a press release, among the topics discussed was the proposed launch of bus services from Singkawang to Kuching via the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex Biawak-Aruk.

The proposal to open the route was made during a previous meeting with the MOTS by the Indonesian Consul General in Kuching.


MOTS is studying the matter and will hold further discussions with the bus companies in Sarawak.

In addition, at the same meeting, Lee proposed resuming flights from Kuching to Pontianak in order to develop diverse tourism with the Indonesian side.

Also present at the discussion was MOTS permanent secretary Dato Ir Alice Jawan Empaling, head of sea and river transport division Teo Swee Ann, head of land transport and logistics division Julin Alen, and head of air transport division Zulkarnain Rosli. — DayakDaily
