GEDONG, April 12: Sarawak has been identified by some as Malaysia’s economic powerhouse, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said the world, including those from Peninsular Malaysia are slowly recognising Sarawak’s strength and potential, which bodes well for Sarawak’s future.
“Sarawak is strong, so people from another side (Peninsular Malaysia) are coming over. (Officers from) EPF (Employees Provident Fund) came, those from Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia also came.
“They wanted to see our economic growth. Now, there are also people saying that Sarawak is Malaysia’s economic powerhouse,” said Abang Johari during the Gedong Mini Isthmus compensation cheque presentation ceremony held at Gedong community hall today.
He stressed that to further strengthen Sarawak, Sarawakians must stay united for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to remain strong.
When the people are united and the region grows, he said, Sarawak can reap more benefits including increased revenue. — DayakDaily
