KUCHING, Aug 24: Sarawak ICT Association (Sicta) chairman Foo Shau Lung handed over six portable trolley speakers to MBKS Covid-19 One-Stop Centre (OSC) in Jalan Padungan this morning.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

The speakers were sponsored by AMT PC Distributors Sdn Bhd, PC Image Sdn Bhd, Compuway Marketing Sdn Bhd and Compumart Sales and Services Sdn Bhd as one of the association’s ways to show support for the centre.

According to Wee, the donation was made within 24 hours following the centre’s request for the needed facilities.

He thanked the sponsors for their fast response and willingness to donate the speakers as well as expressed his belief that the contributions would be very useful to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

He also reminded the public to be alert in view of the current situation in Kuching as the city is still under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

“Please obey and strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for us to fight Covid-19 as our fight is not over yet.

“Please remind our family and friends to wear face masks at all times — double masking is advisable, wash hands regularly with soap or hand sanitiser, avoid hand shakes, avoid crowded areas, avoid any big gatherings, and be aware of physical distancing. Stay at home as much as possible unless you have important matter to settle outside but be sure to keep yourself safe,” he said at the handover ceremony.

He also reminded members of the public who have completed the full vaccination to abide with the SOPs as they could still get infected by Covid-19. — DayakDaily
