KUCHING, Aug 15: Sarawak Deputy Premier and Sarawak Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG), Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, has expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan for being selected as the first site in Malaysia to conduct clinical trials for an innovative therapy aimed at treating pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH).

According to Dr Sim in a Facebook post, the treatment of PAH is currently unsatisfactory, with a poor prognosis, and is primarily treated with drugs.

“Thank you to Prof Chen Shao-Liang of Nanjing First Hospital and his team at Pulnovo Medical, HQ Shanghai, for developing this new device technology, which has the potential to revolutionise PAH treatment,” he said.

The minister said that the collaboration between Nanjing First Hospital and Sarawak Heart Centre epitomises a remarkable journey spanning two decades.

He noted that this partnership has been characterised by delivering high-quality clinical services, engaging in postgraduate and proctorship programmes, and advancing research efforts.

“The relationship is marked by a foundation of friendship, trust, and professionalism, bridging the heart of China with the heart of Borneo,” Dr Sim said. — DayakDaily
