Sarawak govt will take over Borneo Samariang Garden project to resolve buyers’ issues

KUCHING, May 5: The Sarawak government has announced that it will be taking over the problematic Sentoria Borneo Samariang Garden (BSG) housing project from the developer to help resolve the issues of buyers.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said he is aware of the situation involving the house buyers and has given the developers a warning.

“Our government will take over when all the issues are resolved, including the legal matters,” he told reporters after attending the ‘Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri N26 Gedong’ event held at a local hotel, here today.

Abang Johari was responding to a question from one of the reporters regarding the ‘sick housing project’.

He noted that the housing project is managed under a developer that is a listed company.

“I don’t think they can continue (with the project),” he opined.

The housing project was supposed to be completed in 2019, but to date, it has yet to be finished even though the buyers have started to pay their housing loans. —DayakDaily
