KUCHING, Nov 3: The Office of the Premier of Sarawak (OPS) issued a statement in response to recent criticism that the Sarawak government has been slow to comment on pressing issues affecting the State.

These remarks were highlighted in a number of opinion columns and commentary pieces published by local news portals.

“In this regard, OPS wishes to clarify that the Sarawak government will only issue comments when there are definitive situations arising out of such issues as in the case of Affin Bank and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) as the gas aggregator which is within the ambit of Sarawak’s law.

“Comments are always made cautiously in response to media queries in order to reflect the real and true stand of the Sarawak government,” it said in the statement yesterday. — DayakDaily
