Sarawak govt approves water supply project costing RM5 mil to Rumah Ado, Kakus

SELANGAU, March 19: The Sarawak government has approved a RM5-million water project implemented under the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply System (Sawas) project to Rumah Ado in Kakus here. 

Minister in the Office of Sarawak Premier Datuk John Sikie Tayai emphasised that the residents of the longhouse are set to benefit from this project once completed. 

“In addition, a water treatment plant costing about RM190 million will also be built in the Sangan area. 


“The infrastructure will cater for the water supply needs of residents in the Tatau District,” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Friday. 

Sikie, who is also Kakus assemblyman, highlighted this during a Leader with Community Programme held at Rumah Raweng Manja in Nanga Mejau here. 

At the programme, he also announced grants for Minor Rural Project (MRP) with RM20,000 for Rumah Raweng Manja’s Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM5,000 for the longhouse’s Women Bureau.
 
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development and Samalaju assemblyman Datuk Majang Renggi, who was also present, announced a RM10,000 MRP grant for the community. 

Some 53 community leaders and village chieftains (KMKK) of Tatau District and Kakus constituency attended the programme.— DayakDaily
