KUCHING, Oct 7: The Sarawak government has allocated about RM30 million to upgrade and improve the 35.24km-long Triso-Melebu-Pusa coastal road.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the project is divided into four phases and construction work for the first phase involving a 26.3km-stretch has already started.
“The construction of this road needs to be accelerated as the road is the main choice (of users) and a busy route while also used as a shortcut that connects the southern region. It is a major road that has become an important route for the coastal areas,” he said.
Julaihi said this during a press conference after visiting the Coastal Road Project PA7 Phase 1,2,3 Triso/Melebu/Pusa construction site, yesterday.
He noted there is a shortcut which connects to the 24km-stretch of the Batang Lupar-Triso-Batang Saribas road which was recently tendered to contractor.
Apart from that, He said bridge construction projects are also being carried out at the moment, such as the Batang Saribas and Batang Lupar bridges.
“I hopes that the completion of the State government funded projects will benefit everyone, not only for those in Meludam, Pusa and Beladin area,” he added. — DayakDaily
