KUCHING, Nov 16: The Sarawak government has allocated RM1.03 billion to upgrade water supply in the Serian division under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg told reporters this after chairing the State Development Coordination Committee Meeting (SDCCM) today in Serian, which was streamed live via Sarawak Public Communications Unit’s (Ukas) Facebook page.
“The water supply in the Serian division needs to be upgraded and improved, and the Sarawak government has allocated funds totaling RM1.03 billion under the 12MP.
“However, we feel that this project may not have time to be fully completed by 2025 due to the difficult accessibility factor in some areas.
“But it can be completed within one or two years after 2025 for this project to reach all the target areas in Serian,” he said.
Abang Johari also disclosed that 34 out of 80 development projects worth RM368.6 million in the Serian division have been fully completed.
The meeting was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Deputy Premiers of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development (M-Ficord) Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Minister Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
