KUCHING, Aug 3: Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, the wife of Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has expressed her disappointment over the actions of irresponsible parties who circulated a black and white graphic containing the fake message that Taib had passed away.
In a post shared on her Instagram account, Raghad conveyed her view that the creation and dissemination of this fabricated graphic was not only inhumane, but also tantamount to cursing Taib, who she said had devoted his entire life to serving the people and Sarawak.
She emphasised that fabricating such false news, whether for amusement or to tarnish a reputation, is morally wrong, even across various religious beliefs.
“How would you feel if any of your family members are declared to be dead when (he or she) is still alive and kicking?” she questioned as she urged people to reflect on such irresponsible actions.
Raghad called for respect towards the families, fathers, husbands, and grandfathers of others.
“Please respect someone else’s family, father, husband, grand dad. Remember that when you curse other people, the curse may go back to you too,” she wrote while citing the Quranic word of La’nah which means “being far removed from the mercy of Allah” in her message shared late last night (Aug 2).
Drawing on teachings from the Prophet, she reminded that a believer should refrain from invoking curses.
Raghad was referring to a monochromatic graphic that included the logo of news outlet Astro Awani, which had firmly denied any involvement in creating the misleading content.
In an official statement earlier today, Astana Negeri Sarawak has refuted the rumours and reassured the people of Sarawak regarding Taib’s improving health.
Private secretary to the Governor of Sarawak Junih Salleh Ahmad emphasised that Taib would be returning home soon based on his doctor’s advice.
Astana Sarawak urged people to exercise cation and not be easily hoodwinked by unverified news and speculations concerning Taib’s current health status. — DayakDaily
