Sarawak Governor meets Singapore president to strengthen bilateral ties

KUCHING, Nov 21: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid a courtesy visit to Singapore president Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Singapore Presidential Palace in Singapore today.

Also in the delegation was Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, accompanied by his wife, Datin Dr Haniza Zainal Abidin.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Dr Annuar said the nearly one-hour discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sarawak and Singapore.

“The Governor’s courtesy visit to the President of Singapore largely revolved around efforts to enhance Singapore-Sarawak ties, particularly in developing the State,” he said.

Dr Annuar further said Tun Wan Junaidi also highlighted Sarawak’s vast potential, especially in the energy and tourism sectors.

“Many aspects were discussed on how cooperation between Singapore and the Sarawak government can be further enhanced in the future,” he added.

The visit was also attended by Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Dato’ Indera Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar. — DayakDaily
