KUCHING, June 7: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has called on Muslims to reflect deeply on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and sincerity that lie at the heart of Hari Raya Aidiladha.
In his Aidiladha message, Wan Junaidi said the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail should not be viewed merely as a historical narrative, but as a profound guide in shaping the character of Muslims grounded in piety (taqwa), acceptance (reda), and unwavering faith.
“Sacrifice goes beyond the ritual act of animal slaughter. It encompasses a broader meaning—putting truth above self-interest, preserving ties of kinship, and nurturing compassion and benevolence (ihsan) within our communities,” he said in a TVS news report.
He also urged Muslims to make Aidiladha a moment of renewal—an opportunity to strengthen unity among the ummah and to strive for personal and collective betterment towards a life blessed with peace and purpose.
On this occasion, Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, extended their warmest Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to Muslims across Malaysia, especially to the people of Sarawak, wherever they may be.
They prayed that this year’s celebration would be filled with gratitude, harmony, and love among all.
The couple also offered special prayers for Sarawakian pilgrims currently in the Holy Land performing the Haj.
“Our prayers are with them always. May they be granted good health, strength, and an accepted Hajj (Haji Mabrur), God willing,” he said. — DayakDaily
